Hello!

Here's the only two Jefferson nickels I found pre-ww2. I think the second one is supposed to be a War Time one, given the big mintmark on the reverse (Philly)? First should be still Philly, but a regular one (not silver)?

Anything special about them I might have missed? Or are both pretty common? As usual looking forward to read your insights!

Uncommon enough that I would save both of them when I find them. The silver War Nickel is definitely worth more than face value.

Is that what PCGS calls "1939 5C Reverse of 1940" (https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin...e-1940/94003 )?
What gives it away?

Nice finds from Italy.

The 1939 is a common coin but a keeper. That 1943-P is indeed a 35% silver war composition nickel and definitely a keeper just for the minimal silver content value.

Neither coin has any numismatic premium based on their respective condition and relative abundance.

The Reverse of 1940 has deeply squared off steps. It also has a hooked serif atop the S in Pluribus.

A War Nickel is always a good find. =)

Ahh! I see the hook! I only read about the stairs and was wondering how it was possible to tell given the wear!

Just for fun, group shot of all the Jeffersons I found in my keep. These might well be all change from my various trips to the States.
Looks like I got all five types as per PCGS classification, when together with the two above!
In this shot we see 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s -- Philly and Denver represented.

That 74 is looking nice! and that 80 has seen better days! 2000 has an interesting ding on the eye

These probably fall under the "change" category for ya'll. I like them nonetheless!
Please, feel free to let me know if I got a never-seen-before coin worth millions in the lot!

Cheers to everyone!

The 1983-D and 1982-P look to be in good shape. Those are worth a buck apiece, assuming the nickels are not scratched, damaged, or badly worn.
