Crisyrae, Your quarter is a S mint mark and a proof coin. You should not hold coins like that because it puts fingerprints on them which is not a good thing. You need to dip it in 100% pure acetone, the kind you buy from a hardware store not standard nail polish remover. Being that coin looks circulated it would be considered an impaired proof coin now. Little if any added value. Best to post one coin per thread. John1

To help you, we need clearer images of your coin on at least both sides. Also, as already mentioned, use 1 topic =1 coin. This way we can advise you on each of your coins. In addition, if your goal is to sell coins, then the easiest way is to use your local store or online auctions (for example ebay).

to the CCF You have a 1977 Proof quarter minted in San Francisco ... observe the S mint mark on the obverse just behind the hair braid. It is a common coin not worth paying grading fees for. Tip - you should never hold a coin in between your fingers as you show here. It will leave an oily fingerprint deposit behind. For the balance of your coins of interest, just start new threads with in-focus photos of both sides and our experts can help.

Never, ever hold a coin like that.
Hold it on the edge.

Your coin is probably a proof coin with a fingerprint now. It's basically not worth much, millions of these were made even graded they are a few dollars.

Also, avoid handling pressing coins between your fingers like that. Fingerprints on coins aren't attractive :)

What's with the dime obverse pic you uploaded with the quarter reverse and edge?

Doesn't have much value given the way you've handled it.

I would suggest that you not handle the coins without a cotton glove. Hold them by the side to avoid finger prints. I've got some extremely nice coins that would have been worth some money if the permanent finger prints were not on them.

Hello, Crisyrae ... ... some advice: don't handle your proof or uncirculated coins with your bare fingers ... you'll leave oil residue which will deteriorate the coin's surface, & de-value the coin ... use some cotton gloves (inexpensive on ebay, or your local coin dealer ( "LCD" in community lingo...) ... Also, don't use any metal object such as tweezers, pliers, etc. You can purchase plastic tongs or tweezers, (again, ebay...) which will not mar the coin's surfaces ... ...hope this info is helpful ... looking forward to your posts ...
