This past weekend I took a drive to an antique show in a town about an hour from where I live. I was rewarded with this find, a blank toonie planchet, which I believe is a German planchet that was destined to become a 1996 toonie, but somehow escaped its fate. It's a bit beat up, but still a good find, in my opinion. I was also able to find some silver Canadian coins at less than current spot price which was a bonus!

Quote: I think that is a 1998 not the German 1996 Lol, that's funny. I guess I should've explained myself a bit better. Correct me if I'm wrong but 1996 is the only year that toonie planchets were made in Germany. German planchets were the only planchets that came preassembled (core and outer ring).

I think that Planchets are a bit beat up before striking. But that is a great find!

They were only found in 1996, and very easy to identify so any was picked out as time and ARP goes on there is not many left Really nice examples dealers back then sold for around 100 to 150 bucks
