I put a lot of bravado in that title. This could be a valuable nickel. The luster is beaming under the patina and not easy to capture. Sure the toning is not that great so eye appeal is in the eye of beholder, but what say you on the grade? Maybe its another proof?

Looks like a nice toned MS example, not a proof.

If that isn't a proof (impaired?) then that is one hammered nickel.

Yes, I have this in hand. I can not believe it is a business strike. I have been soaking it in pure acetone to try and cut the patina down a bit. Thousand(s) dollar coin or proof? I am really thinking its an impaired proof. I have already been fooled by this old dansco album a couple times with proofs. There are some great coins but this seems to good to be true.

How would one tell on a coin like this tho? Looking at PCGS photo grade I can't really be sure.

Kind of looks like a Black Beauty, where the planchet was
improperly annealed and is much softer.

Sure looks Proof to me. PF-58 as it shows some handling and contact marks on Jefferson's collar.
