Hi all! My plan is to buy a coin microscope and scale very soon. Bear with me, as I'm still learning coin terminology. I have this 2022p dime, it's thinner than normal. On the reverse west side, it's bulging out, I can also see an "M" on that area. I can see other markings in the background, but I really need a microscope.

@Niknax Yes, it appears someone damaged it with acid, perhaps a dip. PMD

Fire is always a good guess to, when you see that much black residue imbedded in the deeper areas.

With an unexplained bulge and rough texture, I'm on team fire for this one. The M is Pareidolia.

Just weigh it - if normal (2.27 grams) then heat damage, if it weighs less then it was acid damage.

Whatever happened to it, it was damaged after it left the U.S. Mint. PMD.
