So earlier today, actually I guess it was yesterday now, I posted a 55 D Wheatie that the consensus around the forum, was from a bezel placement! I won't lie I had to Google bezel placing coins, guess I just never heard of it, plus still scratching my head as to why someone is placing a '55 D in one to begin with! Anyhoo, I knew I had seen something similar on at least one other coin I thought I set aside and was able to find this '86 LMC. Now the eastern half of the obverse rim seems to have the same, or very similar issue as the '55 D from earlier, but would placing in a bezel only leave the marks on the rim on one section of one side of the coin, or is this from a Bezel issue at all, something completely different?

Looks like a slight MAD and some type of Ridge Ring.Don't forget about using our search box here on CCF.

Agree with the Ridge Ring, quite common on those early Zincolns.

Ah ok so kinda 2 separate events then maybe? Yes I see the Ring of Death poking it's head up, but was referring to the extra "line" you see on the very outer edge of the obverse, almost due east! That's what you were referring to when you said "slight MAD", @John1? And yes I do utilize the search engine, but always helpful when you know the terms, of which I'm still learning, obviously

Just seeing a Ridge Ring & slight MAD as stated above, not seeing a rim job.

There's no Ring of Death on this coin. The ring is as stated above, a Ridge Ring, 2 different things. Along with a little MAD. And as to why would anybody put a 55 in a bezel, some of us were born that year.
