@bill, I believe that all of the doubling on incuse lettering is going to be Machine Doubling.

Beware of newer quarters with the incused lettering, they may just look doubled or distorted.

DD on incised devices will make them smaller. You have to think about it backwards. The incised devices on the die are raised. If it was a DD on the die, that would take off more of the raised device
