here is a PCGS MS64 Morgan dollar
My question here would be that VSS re-grade or just attribute it to the VAM 24 designation?

Not sure what your question is. This is a VSS attribution. I wouldn't send in to pcgs for attribution. That variety, while interesting, adds little value. It's a nice MS Morgan on its own.

ok, my question is - did PCGS grade this coin first, then somebody sent it to VSS for attribution, or did VSS do all of it?
The PCGS number is valid, but their site has no images of it.

OK. Yes. Pcgs graded the coin and then it was sent to Variety Slabbing for attribution. VSS will grade a coin, but they also attribute previously graded coins like yours. It's a good service if you want to keep the graded coin intact.

Edited for spelling. Big fingers and tiny virtual keyboard.

@Dearborn, I don't think they list pictures unless the submitter pays extra. I wish every graded coin had pictures so when you compared coins your were thinking about buying you could see if it was the actual coin and not a fraud.

I would venture to say VSS rec'vd this in a bulk submission.
Once John (messydesk of VAMWORLD) rec'vs 100 coins he sends them off to PCGS for grading. He then gets them back from PCGS graded and he attributes them.
If you are not in a hurry with your coins...this is a very good deal because he gets bulk grading rates.
If you haven't already...check this out...

I've used his service a couple of times...maybe 60 coins (Morgan and Peace dollars) in all and was very pleased.

I wanted to come back to correct my sausage finger cell phone entry yesterday. What I should have said is that VSS will NOT grade the coin, but WILL slab the coin with their attribution. It's a fairly inexpensive service. I didn't realize (as smat pointed out) that they would send in bulk submissions and then apply their attribution to the graded coin. I know people who have sent VSS previously graded coins for their sticker service.

If I have a dollar with a value-added VAM, I will default to having PCGS attribute the coin, but some auction houses (GC included) recognize the VSS attribution and will list the coins with the variety in their sales. As we know, PCGS are not the experts at VAM attributions - I had to contact them before they shipped out one of my coins because they had applied a different variety on the slab. The difference between what they had first assigned and what should have been (and ultimately was) assigned equated to a difference of thousands of dollars in value. It pays to keep a close eye on their website to find out exactly when they are finished with the servicing.

I guess that I'll NOT crack it out of the holder and keep as is..

Oh shoot that's right...you got those new Morgan books to fill up!
Ok...since you put it that way...
Unless the year in question can be attributed with a "HOT 50" or "Top 100"...crack her out and plop her in the album. Just keep any labels from TPG's.
Can't wait to see this thing come together!
