How much nasty breaking of the die does it take to be considered a VAM-2A? Just found out about VAMs thus have no knowledge to speak confidently.

I had to copy the photo and zoom in to see what mint this was, looks like D Denver. It would help if you put in the description which mint. The mint mark is close to the eagle tail. If there is no mint mark then it's from Philadelphia. It's not VAM-2A, the die crack is not in the correct place on T of trust. Look on Vamworld.com to see all the cracks of VAM-2A from Denver. Cracks are common on Peace and don't get a VAM number unless there are a lot of cracks and/or something else going on. Die cracks are different than die breaks (larger, wider) which do get a VAM number. If there's nothing else significant on the coin I think it's just considered a normal 1922.

John1 Found out about the site very late in the night. Thanks for the link. This appears to be a VAM-2AG2 with the line on the obverse through UNIT. Appreciate everyones help on this.

Sorry it's not that. As I said in my prior post, your die crack does not go through the T of trust in the same place. You need to find a match where the crack goes through the T in the exact same spot. It does not have any of the other cracks or major die break to be a VAM-2AG2. Look at the features of the entire coin. It takes some time and experience to ID VAMs, you'll get there.

Here's the difference:

There are so many varieties.... I truly am done looking at the options. I'll consider this a junk silver coin.

Looks like the die cracks match up with VAM 2AG / 2AG2. Just a matter of if there is displacement at the cracks as listed for each VAM. The crack at the T matches the VAM 2AG2 photo from what I can see.

This information validates the coin as a 2AG2. Would it increase the value that makes it worth grading? Likely it would be a work in futility.
