from what I can see - looks really neat! There are obvious areas on the reverse showing up well.

If I try and upload larger images I get a pop up stating the images are too large. I tried.

File sizes total on each photo need to be under 300kb but you can still get a tremendous amount of detail if you set up your "photo export" or "save as" settings correctly.

I generally choose an image size around 2000 x 1000 pixels wide at 72 or 96 dpi and a jpeg quality or around 65-80% to come up with a photo like this:

Uploading it will create a smaller thumbnail on the post that can be clicked and then the image will show at full size. That Two Cent coin photo is 1500 x 760 at 80% and a total of 243.7kb still plenty big enough to see detail.

Am I seeing correctly that it was flipped over before being struck the second time?

I don't think it is a flip, you can see the date in the uppermost feather. The reverse shows part of UNITED in front of the Buffalo's neck.
