I am curious about the 7 which very well could be died deterioration or MD?

- what about the "U" on the reverse...

what you are pointing at on the 7 is MD , a shelf like and flat doubling

You can also see it on the 1, 9 and the mint mark in the same direction. Good job on the pics!

That's a hit on the U. Just damage.
