Second, rather than a repunched mintmark or the like, that looks to me like damage to the copper plating, with potential zinc corrosion beginning to take hold. ijn1944 Bedrock of the Community United States 19120 Posts	Posted 02/19/2024 5:19 pm Could be a case of split plating in the immediate vicinity of the mint mark, which then leads to the exposed zinc core beginning to rot.
