No,PMD. Heat damage if weight is right,acid damage if it is light.

Post-strike issues--not an error. For fun, give the coin a long soak in 100% acetone. Acetone might reduce or eliminate that blob (depending on its composition).

For sure it is all damage. My theory is heat damage on the obv and solidified solder on the rev, as the two type of damage could have been created together.

Years ago I came across a similar looking coin (with a silvery gray blob). I soaked the coin in acetone and the blob worked free. Appeared to be an opaque, dried/hardened paste-like glue substance. What we're looking at above could well be solder. I'm just curious if it could be something else--just narrowing possibilities. Fun.
