There literally is no other possible explanation for this coin's appearance other than PMD.

Sap, not channel locks. I KNOW channel locks super well. The obverse would show lateral lines and the odd pinching of the metal would be flattened.

Something squeezed the metal enough to push it up in the center of the crushed zone.

Personally think is was coin fairies going on strike.

Have to disagree on the PMD. The section under the D is clearly metal loss which looks the same shape as the raised metal that is flipped or inverted on the left of the D. Plus the D is impressed into the divit.

The coin is not round, nor does the rim taper into the depression.
That should be your first clue that this is a damaged coin.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...
