There are two types of obverses for the 2015 Canadian dime.

The first obverse was used for the 2014 dimes. The second obverse features a slightly different design.

The easiest way to distinguish between the types of obverses is to look at the differences in the upper lip and crow's feet wrinkle details.

Additionally, obverse 1 shows a lot of deterioration at the ends of the letters used for the legend. Notice obverse 1 has thinner letters compared to obverse 2.

From my small sample, I estimate a ratio of 1 to 4 where obverse 1 is scarcer.

Can you put the photos right side up please? Kinda hard to see laying on my side.

Doesn't look like two different obverses to me, rather it looks like a tired punch was replaced with a fresh one sometime during the year.

Can you indicate which picture you would consider early die state and which one you would consider the late die state?

Funny, I was using the letters as a reference for orientation. Different ways of seeing things I imagine.

The top photo is the tired die. The same thing happens with all kinds of dies in diffent denominations and dates. You can usually tell from the crow's feet, mouth, hair and width of the serifs.

When a die deteriorates, doesn't the serif become thicker?

That's what I meant, the serifs get thicker wider, just like the letters get thicker.

The issue is that the top picture you have indicated as the "tired die" has smaller serifs as shown in the montage below.

This is why I am confused.

If you can post close ups of the mint logo to the Queen area, there might be some thing there,

I compared the logos for both type and they are identical, if there is a difference I can not see it :(

Here is another montage.
