In a recent post @John1 reminded me that my 1,000th post was imminent, so was there a competition coming up? Not knowing much about competitions or how to set one up, I did a search of the forum to see what others had done in the past. I came across a post by @Spence on 05/01/2016 (500th Post Milestone) where he posted a coin with the date nearest 500 for his 500th post. I thought it was a great idea and I could maybe do something similar. I don't have a coin that would span the first to the second "millenniums", so to speak, but I do have a coin of an emperor that would span the first to the second centuries, namely a coin of Trajan (98-117 AD). Then the light bulb lit up , it could be a two birds with one stone post. I had just taken delivery of my first Nerva coin (96-98 AD) and already had Hadrian (117-138 AD), Antoninus Pius (138-161 AD) and Marcus Aurelius (161-180 AD) coins, so why not pick the best of each and make it a Five Good Emperors post too? So Here goes. #1 Nerva - Denarius #2 Trajan - Denarius #3 Hadrian - As #4 Antoninus Pius - Denarius #5 Marcus Aurelius - Dupondius

Such great coins. The Trajan, in particular, is outstanding. Looks like it was just struck. Congrats on the 1,000 post, Jim.

Jim, isn't this a bit like throwing your own birthday party for the benefit of the guests? What a treat! Congratulations on your milestone, man. Love the dedication to this Community!
Your coins are awesome, Jim. especially that Hadrian. Yes...I'm showing my usual bias towards all things Hadrian, but you must admit that ideal Greek-style portrait is a winner!

Quote: Such great coins. The Trajan, in particular, is outstanding. Looks like it was just struck. Congrats on the 1,000 post, Jim. Thanks, Bob. It seems to have come round very fast. The Trajan coin is really beautiful in hand. Quote: Yes...I'm showing my usual bias towards all things Hadrian, but you must admit that ideal Greek-style portrait is a winner! Thanks, Mike. Knowing your leaning towards all things Hadrian, it comes as no surprise to hear that his coin was your favourite. Yes, he does look quite splendid in the Greek-style portrait for sure. Thanks, @jbuck. Quote: Your photography skills are quite excellent as well. Thanks, @paralyse. The credit has to go to my 15 year-old Sony Cybershot DSC-W35 pocket camera, set on macro and auto flash, and mounted on a defunct Krokus enlarger stand. Neither of my Canon SLRs do the coins justice, and when I upgraded to a newer Cybershot the results were quite poor in comparison. Hopefully there will be many more years of service in the old compact DSC-W35.

What a great line-up—my fave is the Nerva! It is great to have you so active over here in the ancients subforum. I had kinda forgotten about that 500 post thread of mine, but I'm starting to get pretty close to 30,000 posts so maybe time to do something special to celebrate that.

You can just post examples of your coins from the year 30,000 (BC or AD) :P

Quote: What a great line-up—my fave is the Nerva! Thanks for the comments, @Spence. It took a while to find a Nerva with a decent amount of detail and at a reasonable price. I am pretty happy with this coin and am looking forward to seeing your 30,000th post.
