I have been watching this auction of a (supposed) Edward II silver penny dated 1307-1309 It was graded by NGC as a Edward II but I think it may actually be an Edward I coin.

On the obverse lettering has this around the circumference:
A-Little-Help-Needed-To-ID-This-Coin-Properly.
Now the part I'm more interested in is the 2 dots between the B and the cross at the top. I looked at a lot of varieties for both Kings, and I can only find these t dots associated with Edward I (see Numista.com)
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces324330.html
I cannot find these dots on ANY Edward II coins.
The images above and the next 2 are from the sellers listing and not mine.

The area of interest is circled:

Can anyone confirm or say no to this being an Edward II coin?

Well I won the auction - I'll be sending it off to PCGS to get is labeled a bit better with the class 11b designation which narrows down the date to 1310-1314. and hopefully get that details removed too ( I mean after 700 years of banging about, I'm sur it may get a dent or 2)

Congrats on winning the auction, it's a neat coin.

The Details grade is for environmental damage, not dings, correct?

Well this con arrived today, Tried to get a good image through the slab, but they are terrible, I'll try again tomorrow with better lighting.
But in hand, this coin looks almost uncirculated. (it did get an 'AU' grade but with details) - look like there is some grime on it or something. I'm planning on sending it over to PCGS for proper grading and getting the class 11b on it which narrows the date to 1310-1314. If they do restorations I may pay to have that done as well - maybe that will get rid on the 'details' moniker.

Glad you got it in hand. Hopefully you will figure out the lighting for a good photo.

Fantastic coin, Dearborn! The "Details" on it do not bother me in the least - it's a great coin.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Very nice one. Details on that coin would not bother me one bit.

I will send this coin to PCGS for a crossover from NGC. NGC or the previous owner missed some details that narrows down the date and class (11b). So I hope o can get PCGS to attribute it properly.
