Hello everyone,

Found this in a collection today and it's hard to find a match since the text is so common to coinage. It is about 24 mm

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

That broken off loop tells me this was a pendant, key fob, or other non-numismatic origin.

I've found a similar one in a dealer's junk box - they were probably produced for cheap jewellery as imitations of regal sovereigns and half-sovereigns.

I agree with NumisRob.

I've seen gilded versions in jewellers shops in France, Italy and Spain.

I think they were made similar to genuine coins, but different to avoid being prosecuted for forgery.

With no date, it's not really a "commemorative medal". So I'd agree: a "costume jewellery" sovereign replica, intended for a necklace or earring, and not really trying too hard to convince anybody that it's a genuine sovereign.

It looks like a copy of a gaming token that was produced back in 1907-1916.
The rider and horse are close to the original but the cape is different and riders right arm is in a slightly different location.
Other subtle differences are:
The dragon is different and the bridal lead is in a different location in the horses mouth.
what is the weight of your token and the diameter?

The token is 22 mm and 3.22 g. I'm think I'm going to go with jewelry piece. Very very inexpensive jewelry piece.

thanks for getting back on the extra date.
and probably a good decision to call it a simple jewelry piece.
