am just starting to understand DDO coins. I have researched this 1988 D Penny. I began to use ebay as a price guide, but that has proved to Bea unwise choice. By all the websites I do any research on it's unlikely a DDO. Anybody that can take a look , would be appreciated. I would like to use the coin as a reference because it's one thing to look at a picture and a whole other thing to actually have a coin to look at yourself.

Also on a few of the websites they had something about the FG being the reverse of a 1989. But my microscope is not that great so I don't know if you guys can tell from the picture that I do have I usually don't look at the FG just because I don't have the equipment to look at it so I don't know really what it's supposed to look like from 88 to 89 I did look it up but they both look the same to me.

Not a DDO,it is DDD.
Here are the three sites we all use:http://www.coppercoins.com/advsearch.php
http://varietyvista.com/
http://doubleddie.com/
For values check ebay sold and:http://m.numismedia.com/rarecoinprices.htm
Use the search box upper left of page for RDV-005 vs RDV-006
Also, please properly crop pics before posting...thanks.

I believe we're looking at a Die Deterioration issue.
