Poll Question
This coin has obviously been struck more then once. I've posted it before but am curious if anyone feels like it could have been struck 3 times.... When viewing the bottom right of obverse we can see the planchet rim. The first strike (reverse under obverse). Second strike is main strike (obverse over reverse). There's no question in that part of the coin. When viewing the obverse you can see the reverse rim lettering is under the obverse and gets almost completely covered up by the obverse press. The low parts of the right side obverse shows just a light etching of the reverse. When looking at the left side of the obverse we can see that there is also a reverse strike on top of the obverse.... So in your opinion would this be 2 or 3 strikes? Thanks in advance!

Interesting. Looks to be a die clash, perhaps. An accurate weight--to two decimal places--might be good to know. A full obverse photo would be welcome, along with a pic of the reverse. Thanks.

I think it's a Die Clash. Cool find.

Where do you see the extra hits? What's that by the Y-LIBERTY? . The clash from 3k over under AME looks like the same hit. And those looks like the same hit as what's on the shoulder and in front of Lincoln. But I've been wrong (a lotta a lotta) times. That is a very interesting coin. with @Kloccwork419. I just saw his post.

This is not a clash. Its an in collar flip over double strike.

Yeah, letters would be reversed on a clash.
Would be nice to see some images that weren't so pixelated.

The reason the monument is stronger on the bottom left of Lincoln is because thats the high point of the strike (incused on the die). With it being struck already by the reverse die, it couldn't strike that area as much as it did in the field. If that makes sense

Thank you for the link to that thread. I agree that it's a Collar Flip Over Double Struck and not a Die Clash.

Thanks folks for enlightening me that is a flip over strike. I mistook it for a clash.
