I am interested in this note. These are seller's photos and all I have access to. Can you comment on authenticity, condition and an idea of value based on these photos? Thanks in advance for your help.

Edit: the black markings and stickers are on the holder, not the note.

Difficult to grade paper money from scans, but judging from what I think are likely folds, I'll say low VF. Maybe $150?

Thanks, Mr. Frog. I'm a note newbie, but I really like the imagery on the back of this one.

I tend to agree with Mr.Frog.
It appears to be in VF'ish condition but there's something on the back of the note a bit southwest of the Statue of Liberty and just above the word Dollars that has me concerned. I'd estimate its value between $100 - $150, maybe more if it graded with original paper.

I appreciate your thoughts, Steve. The note isn't graded. I'm after an acceptable example of this piece for enjoyment. If the price is right, I may pick it up.

I see those marks you pointed out. What were your concerns there? Serious issues? Would I be better off to look for a better example?

It looks like a stain. Not serious, but a bit distracting. There are a ton of these notes available in every possible grade. Personally, I'd be looking for a graded VF or XF example with original paper qualities. The back vignettes of the train and steamship are some of my favorites. You would want to have a respectable example to display or show to your friends.

My only issue with this note is that it looks like its washed and pressed. Note the faint white line in the folds and how some of the wording is faint.

I may pass unless I can see it in person. Here are a few nice graded ones. Although only 1 has PPQ

Thanks for the additional info. I haven't heard about washing/pressing, but I can see where that may be the case here. I'll also look for a nice, graded example as suggested.

I am leery of any note which has a label (or price sticker) which obstructs my proper inspection. On the back top-left corner I see 2 suspicious dots. One dot is on the border & appears slightly reddish (which could mean rust) & the other is about a staple hole distance into the design. If the sticker wasn't on the front, you could verify whether the note has had previous staple holes, but with the sticker in the position it is in- it is impossible to verify. This would be a definite dealbreaker for me.

Thank you, @walk2dwater, for your insights. This auction is tomorrow and my "buy it now" price is dropping with every comment. If there are no concerns with authenticity (none so far,) I may throw a very low bid just to see what happens. But, I will ultimately follow all the suggestions I've gotten on this thread and look for one at the next show I attend.

Agree, about right for a pressed note.
