Good evening CCF.. Mixed in with all my one cent coins was a very old roll of 1962 five cent coins. The entire roll appears to have a extremely "heavy" strike and appears to be totally uncirculated. I'm guessing that there must have been a mint pressure issue. The depth of the strike is incredible. I looked at Vista (Brian's Coins) with no success. Gosh...these are beautiful coins.. Thanks for looking.

"Deep Strike" ? No - worn die. Check it out - DDD

EDIT: Getting rid of clutter to get right to the source.

Right here in your picture proves DDD. You can even see the metal flow from being struck with a worn die.......

If the strike looks very deep, check the mass. iirc, an overweight planchet will take a strong strike.

Thank you Brandmeister. The entire roll is a bit on the heavy side using 5.00 gr as standard. I appreciate your reply.
