I stopped by a coin shop today to pick up some bulk Lincoln cents, but figured I'd ask if he had any decent error coins floating around. He pulled this one out and gave me a very good price on it so I bought it. I was tempted to put it in the PCGS pile, but I think it shows perfectly well as-is so I'm not going to send it in.

The coin has reeding on half the edge, and none on the other half, and weighs 5.0g.

Really cool piece. Is this assumed to have happened naturally at the mint, or was it employee mischief? The strike seems horizontally centered, that's why I ask.

Absolute knockout error, congrats on the purchase. I bought one slabbed a couple years ago and I'll try and dig it up and start a topic on later.

Thanks folks! There are quite a few of these off-metal errors out there but sometimes an example just really catches your eye as particularly nice. This one did that for me.

As-is I should think it would sell around $250 if I were willing to wait a bit for a buyer. At $225 I would think it would sell fairly quickly. If graded somewhere around $300. I paid $150 and the dealer threw in a 1970-D 50% off center Lincoln Cent.
