Not all that old of a coin. Just worth one cent, but keep up the hunt!

While a nice looking penny, this is a very common penny to find. It is worth face value even in nice condition.

You will see slabbed ones with a very high grade going for decent money, but those very high grades, if it makes the coin/slabe super expensive, are not going to be given out to the average person sending in coins. Highest grade slabs are kept to a minimum. This drives up their price enticing more people who don't understand the system to pay the fees (200.00) to try to get that grade on their own penny.
And since there are no verifiable standards used to grade coins (it's all subjective opinion), and there is no way to prove or disprove a slab's grade is correct. The very best graded coins, if broken out and re-submitted (even to the same company) may not get that grade again.

Splotchy with what looks like roller lines - 2x2 worthy at best.

Looks to be mint state, shots of both sides is necessary. You can clearly see roller lines, those are part of the coin's patina now. They cannot be removed and you don't want to.

Some residue on the portrait. This is a low-value coin, just take it to the sink and put it under running hot water. Use your fingers and a little soap if needed - but no cloths or towels. Hopefully it comes right off and you have a decent coin. Good Luck!

i'll add to this that finding any coin of value in circulation is finding a needle in a haystack. the best chance of finding an MS66 or higher coin is to look through 1000's of coins from uncirculated bank rolls. most moderns need to be MS67 which is very rare indeed.

if you know what to look for there are error or variety coins out there that can be found but its extremely time consuming. coins like the 1970S varieties can be found still. it is though one of the best ways to fill holes in an album your are working on.

here is a link to the PCGS pricing page for LMC's you can scroll through these and see the various varieties with their values. you can click on the link for that coin and PCGS shows what the variety looks like

keep up the hunt, you never know when something will show up
