Looks more like it took hit/damage. Pushed metal is very evident.

Agree, it looks like that in these images. But I'd expect more zinc to be showing.

True, that gouge (if it is one) looks rather deep. It should have gone into the zinc layer...

It looks like a huge Cud, rather than damage. Is it raised? Can you get more images?

I did a Photoshop image overlay of the coin to see if anything lines up on the reverse to match up with the anomaly on the obverse. I really don't see anything out of place. If you want, I can post the image, but I need to check Mr. Kerr if the alignment isn't off any.

With the detailed image I don't see any pushed metal. I'm thinking that this is a strike through, but I'm not 100%. The shape looks like someone dropped a wooden match into the press.

Edit: Wow! I though we were looking at an incuse area. I didn't even think of a Cud!
