Stopped by my local branch today while on the way to grocery shop. The teller had 40 rolls of customer wrapped pennies which I scooped up. I hit a pretty good little chunk of Wheaties from them, including a 1909-VDB! All told here were my picks: United States Wheat Cents {58 Total - several too slick to date} -(1) 1958 D -(1) 1957 -(1) 1957 D -(2) 1956 D -(1) 1953 D -(19) 1952 S -(10) 1951 S -(1) 1951 -(1) 1950 -(1) 1946 -(1) 1946 D -(1) 1946 -(1) 1945 -(1) 1944 -(1) 1943 [Steel] -(4) 1941 -(1) 1940 -(1) 1939 -(1) 1938 -(1) 1920 -(1) 1916 -(1) 1909 VDB
Canadian Cents {12 Total} -(1) 1989 -(1) 1986 -(1) 1981 -(1) 1980 -(1) 1971 -(2) 1970 [1 Unc] -(1) 1965 [Unc] -(1) 1962 -(1) 1950 -(1) 1948 -(1) 1931 Edited by Waltick90 03/28/2024 11:35 am

Nice wheaties score, Waltick90! That also seems to be a high percentage of Canadians - do you live near the border?

Quote: do you live near the border? Not especially, I'm on the east coast in Maryland. Ive been getting Canadians pretty reliably in my roll hunts for whatever reason. They just make their way around I suppose.

Excellent. I had a similar experience several years ago--five customer rolls full of wheat cents. No 1909 VDB, but a decent mix of 20s through 50s.

Quote:Please post a picture of the 1959 Wheat cent. So as it turns out, I was just very tired and mistook this shmutz on a 1950 as 1959 at a glance without even questioning it. Major brain fart. Sorry guys!

Awesome finds! I remember finding over 156 Wheats, or something like that, from a box once. Never broke the record for that one, to this date.
Errers and Varietys.

Part 2 - Got a call from one of the tellers I'm friendly with letting me know that the same individual who dumped the rolls previously just dropped off another 50 rolls. Needless to say I darted over and grabbed them up. They were loaded with copper. Not as good in terms of Wheat cent dates this time, but not bad (including a couple in Unc. condition). What was curious were several Proofs littered about randomly in the rolls. Ill list everything I pulled I think worth mentioning below. Proofs• 1978 • 1986 • 1987 • 1997 • 2009 (Early Childhood) • 2018 • 2017 • 2019 • 2020 • 2021 2009's• (34) 2009 P • (21) 2009 D Wheat Cents• (2) 1958 • 1958 D • 1957 [AU] • (2) 1956 • 1956 D [Unc] • 1953 • 1953 D • 1952 • 1951 • 1951 D • (2) 1949 • (3) 1949 D • 1949 S • (3) 1948 • 1948 D • (4) 1946 • (4) 1945 • (2) 1944 • 1942 • (6) 1942 D • 1941 • (2) 1941 D • 1940 S [Unc] • 1937 • 1936 • (3) 1935 • (2) 1934 • 1925 • 1919
