Speaking of the mint being a business, as most of us know the new Presidential dollars will not be a commercial success.

The only way metal dollars will circulate is to get rid of the paper $1 bill. Evidentally, for political reasons, that isn't going to happen soon.

The Presidential dollars will be a cash cow for the mint. Unfortunately, all those billions in profits will go into the general fund, and most of us can guess how it will be wasted from that point on.

I will not hoard, nor collect these new presidential coins. Since the paper dollar will still be used, these coins have already been deemed a failure...and they haven't hit the streets yet.

Some of these presidents that will grace our circulated dollar coins deserve as much attention as a "city-dog-catcher". As for the spouses that will appear on bullion coins, excuse me...spouses were not elected, they just came along for the ride. Though some spouses contributed more than others, I just think the legislators/mint were "smoking something" when they decided to put spouses on gold coins.

See what happens when some people (CCAC) think depictions of LIBERTY are too political? Idiots...plain and simple.

I inadvertantly posted my feelings reguarding the new dollar series on another thread and I wont repeat it here except to say that although the coins success will not be determined by circulation stats but by collectors paying premiums for them from the mint......the coin series does intrigue me for the fact that they will have something that has been mostly forgotten in the twentieth century for US coin design and that is the third side or edge lettering........I have found it to be irresistible to me at least and I usually have to find examples of world coinage as most examples of the edge lettering on US coinage is costly....
