All,

Looks like there are two different £5 coins this year.

2009 London 2012 Countdown £5
2009-£5-Coins

Cheapest option for this is £5 plus shipping.

2009 Henry VIII £5
2009-£5-Coins

Cheapest option for this £9.99 plus shipping.

Shipping appears to be £2.95 and does appear if you order x2 coins, only a £2.95 shipping charge applies.

I like the Henry VIII crown; fitting coin for such a fat man.

So I suppose the prices are from The Royal Mint, with shipping within the UK? :( Why won't the Post Offices sell any more?!

Many someone else will know if the post office sells these anymore or when they stopped.

The cost for the Hentry VII crown with shipping from The Royal Mint to a UK address would be £12.94 and that would be in a folder. If they offer the raw cown later in the year, the cost would be £7.95 based on last year.

It seems they are not offering either crown in the 2009 Unc set and only the Henry VII in the proof set.

There is also the Mini coin.

And "Celebrate the exciting build-up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games with a UK legal tender £5 coin. This 2009-dated coin marks the start of the 3, 2, 1 countdown to the Games and is the first of four coins to be struck over the next three years to 2012. The Royal Mint is offering you the once-in-a-lifetime chance to own this £5 coin for just £5, making it a great keepsake of the countdown to London 2012."

And only 500,000 will be struck for collectors, there are not 500,000 people who want this coin!!

Frig, MORE OLYMPICS, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
How much can they get out of this. I sent in a load of designs for the 29, YES TWENTY NINE 50p pieces they will make. Cycling will be done by school kids, and one will be done by under 13 years olds, not sure which, but I think it might be athletics. So, something resembling the €2 coin for 2009 then!
Oh, and the hand over coin, which I do not have, yet.

WHy did France not win, I mean, seriously, they could only have issued like one €2 coin per year as a circulating coin. Much easier!

If you wait long enough, the Harry 8th coin will be £5 plus shipping, or for me, £5!! Whenever the anniversary is, they will then probably make it £5, in fact it is on Tuesday, the 500th anniversary of his accession to the throne.

The Post Office has stopped selling this stuff. They obviously did not make money have become more privatised so they have no need any more. Do the whole £5 for £5 thing if you live in the UK.

Kena, you had to pay for shipping for the £5? I didn't! Both coins were £5 each.

But on this one they want the delivery, hmmm!! I'm going to wait see if they do the coin without that packaging for £5! Or order everything together. I am not liking this!

Regarding the mini coin...the Royal Mint lists it under World Base since it is from Alderney.

Last year when I purchased the £5 the shipping was free. This year so far it looks like they want shipping on the raw £5.

I did not hear about all of the various 50 pence designs...oh joy.

I ended up buying the both of the 2008 £2 Olympic coins direct from The Royal Mint since I doubted I would ever find one in circulation.

Only thing I have purchased so far dated 2009 from The Royal Mint was the Britannia £2 Silver Bullion coin.

The competition is still open till friday or something like that if you want to enter, hehe. I tried to design for each sport they are coming out with, but that wasn't going to happen. I managed to get one for Boccia, and goalball, ever heard of them? Well they are going to be on coins, as they are paraolympic sports.

Hockey, pentathlon, shooting and wheelchair rugby were beyond me to produce anything I thought worthy, and some of my other ones were not exactly great.

I'm glad the mini one is alderney as I won't get it then, I was not sure, they don't normally plaster alderney etc coins all over their main page, and they sent an e-mail. The coin is horrible! Typical rubbish those smaller places churn out.
Normally the £5 is a decent coin, the olympics one is okay, it looks good as long as you don't zoom in!

Seems the £5 option has gone, have they put the price up, or was that a mistake?

Received an email today from The Royal Mint about the new £5 coin. Follow the link and the £5 for £5 one is no longer on the web site.

So no idea what is up with that.
