If definitely had some help for sure. Makes me wonder if a mint employee did it on purpose. It's hard to imagine that it happened by accident.

Here's a pic of the slab from the auction. I have soooooo many questions! I couldn't look up the cert number - has anyone else tried? - How magnetic is it? Why did it not stick to the dies or any of the equipment in the line? - It would seem that the shock and heat from being struck would result in the loss of magnetism. - Why is a washer magnetic anyway? - Were any "Washerinton" Quarters produced?

That's a weird one! The washer even looks like it was "homemade". Use a nicer washer next time..

It's not outside the realm of possibility that this washer could have entered the production stream accidentally. There's really no way to tell.
