Greetings! New to this forum as of yesterday.
I have this 1974 D Dime with these errors & I'm not sure what to call them.
I'm calling them:
1. Planchet Error
2. CAT Error - Catastrophic Error
3. RPM on the mint mark "D"
4. Double Die on the 1974 Date and In God We Trust

I don't have the proper photography set up for taking photos of coins.
These are the best photos I can provide until I can get a Coin Microscope.

Sorry @coin, but this dime has:
1. Rim bruises
2. Circular gouges
3. Circulation flattening

None are mint errors.

Post-strike damage, much of it of a blunt force nature.

No errors here, just all damage. PMD. It's a spender.

Thanks everyone.

I see people selling dimes that look like this on ebay, Mercari, etc from $80 dollars to $1,200 dollars.

Perhaps my Dime is not the same thing.

How does that kind of damage happen to a coin post mint?

Washing machines?
Dryers?
Soda Machines?
CoinStar?

I figured the circles were from post ming machine coin rolling.

Thank all of you for your input!!
Cheers!!

Hopefully, they are listing them at those prices, but not actually getting sales. It is definitely "buyer beware" though.

Can you give us a link to some of the ebay sale you saw? Post them here and we can use our CCF influence to get them taken down if they are wrong or fraudulent:

I refuse to buy coins from ebay. "There is a sucker born every day," and I'm trying not to be him.

Agreed - for the sake of the hobby! :)
