Looks like the notorious 1922 no D Weak Reverse die pair #3. ANACS only attributes die pair # 2 as a true no D. A small window of opportunity for ANACS weak D's but also some risk involved will know for certain when it arrives. Opionions welcome, image courtesy of "GreatCollections". *** Moved by Staff moved to a more appropriate forum. ***

I'll say VG-10, which is a stab in the dark based on nothing.

Yep, I see the barest hump of a D mintmark. As to grade, these are quite tricky as this year is an anomaly in the series with a myriad of striking and worn die issues. Appears like a AG-3/G-4, but my experience puts this up to a F-12 with extreme die wear plus some circulation wear...

I would've went the NGC route.
They still attribute this die pair as a "No D" weak reverse

exceedingly difficult to grade. comparing the coin to slabbed one from PCGS & NGC it looks like a VG10 and could pull F12. its a nice example

These old worn things are a tribute to the Denver mints abilities to push those dies to the max. Besides the grade the question is will it get the no D weak reverse designation from NGC? I've owned all 4 die varieties and from comparing other examples I think its got a good shot. Dice roll on it...its either a $300 coin or a $112.00 boondoggle haha these things are hilarious and like playing the slots. Let me see $112 would buy 20 shares of Hecla HL the 1922 phantom D might have got me!

Very nice example! I still contend the "other" die pairs are harder to find than the DP2! You have to grade these using the obverse, most of the reverse dies were horrible. It has similar detail to my DP1 I had slabbed by ANACS....so, VG-8 and you might squeeze out a 10.

Calculations for NGC membership, $10 submission charge, shipping x 2 insurance, encapsulation fee and a 2 month wait are making my yellow ANACS holder suddenly beautiful! What the heck is submission charge? Oh sorry forgot its the charge NGC adds to make more money. ANACS is my friend. Nice no D example badthad not even a pip on your coin.
