Obverse and reverse dies were changed so it's important to get all the indicators correctly on both sides. The coin is worn which can eliminate indicators. You are correct but I feel like the ear fill tells the story, having the long ear, not the "V" shaped and the lack of the die cracks at the back of the head and above the date.
