With only 2K issued, what to look for? I have one on the radar.
Haven't found much beyond general web search. All Pro's and Con's (input) welcomed.

The pics I have are larger than site allows. Trying to minimize.
But, the coin is clean (appears "uncleaned") and holds a nice sheen (NOT Charlie;) . ha)

Will post pics as soon as I can get below file size limit

well that gash on the field is a distracting feature to this coin. overall it is fairly nice, but for me, I would pass on it due to that gash

Looks like a 1935/1934 D, your title states 1936-d.

I find the "strike above the nose" / "gash on the field" distracting as well.

I'd probably pass as well.

It DOES raise question!! Buuuut. Inverse or conversed? With the poor quality of image, unable to tell. So much about this coin that . mint issues are on the table. If you have a higher quality in possession. reference, love to see it!

looking at the lighting and shadows, I can tell that the light is coming in from the bottom right. and the top part of that gash is lit up, that tell me that it is incuse not raised.

Vern,

This commemorative Series of Daniel Boone is a Classic, Ole Design from Days Gone Bye, Clearly a Favorite of Us Collectors.

May I make a Suggestion, Auction Houses have some Awesome Original Luster, All Original Condition, UN-Graded Coins. I believe There are a Large Amount of " Old School " collectors that collected All Natural , All Original Finish, Problem Free Coins. They are coming full circle, Changing of the Guard .........

About 20+ years ago I attended an Estate Sale and They auctioned off Awesome Examples of This Series, I was Very Fortunate Then, to acquire Some Awesome Daniel Boone 1936-1938 Original Un-Graded Coins Wishing you the Best, " The Hunt " is Everything, MD

John, I see your Incused message.....

I wish to Respectfully, Disagree.........

If I understand Your idea that the Seen Cut, Gash raised, incused area in front of Daniel's Face.

If one looks at His Hair highlights, they Too are " Lit up ", meaning the Light is catching his Hair because Those areas are Raised, No?..

I am trying to understand, the Raised Hair resembles the Cut, The Hair is a Raised area showing Light, the Cut is a raised area too as the light shines Equally or Similarly No?

As you requested, here's my Boone. It's a 1936-S, a common date.

I'd like to make two points:

1. Yes, there's a very high likelihood that this coin has been dipped, but apparently it was done gently enough that even CAC gave it their sticker! Collectors differ in their PREFERENCE of eye appeal. The majority prefer coins with toning, to prove "originality". However, there's a large (but silent) minority that prefer their 20th silver to be highly lustrous and look like the designers envisioned they would look as they came off the press.

2. Like the majority, I collect for the many pleasures derived from this wonderful hobby, and not for financial gain. Many collectors bash collecting Classic Silver Commems for financial reasons, due to major price drops for many years. But it appears pricing bottomed out roughly five years ago or so. I bought this coin in 2019 with a CAC for $667 including the auction buyers premium. At that time the PCGS Price Guide was at $650. Today, the PCGS Price Guide is at $1,000, and the CAC Price Guide is at $1,150.
