the 83 and 84 are pretty much unmistakable but the ones w/ doubling on liberty or IGWT can you only see them at high magnification? or can you see them w/ 4x maginfing glass? and do you need to tip the coin in the light to see em ?

some times I think I have one but I move it in the light and it seams to go away

If you have excellent eye sight, sometimes with the naked eye. I use a 10X loupe. You can notice it pretty well with that.

I know the feeling yotie! Most of the ones when you put under light and it goes away tend to be Machine Doubling. I use a 30x loupe when looking through certain varietys. I would say you would probably at least need 10x magnifing glass to see it though but I could be wrong.

If it is too minor to see, then it maybe something too minor. I've found stuff like that before. You can see it through a scope, but can't get an image of it no matter how hard you try. I would save it marked as something interesting and when you get a microscope you can check it out again. I put stuff like that into a tube for a second look when you eye develops.

When searching Cents, I look for everything regardless of year. Items that are know I look for them first, but don't forget to check other things that may be new. When I heard about a new discovery on a 2004 reverse with doubling on the EPU, I started check all coins to see if there was doubling there also. And guess what. I found one on a different year and mint.
