I'm looking for my next challenge. I'm considering trying to assemble a date set of one cent, problem free, good and better coins. Other than 1793, 1877 and 1856 what challenges would there be? I collect with "extra" money I acquire from tax refunds , bonus', etc so I like to generally keep purchases under $100 per coin but occasionally can spend $500 to $2000.
Is this a potential set for me to pursue or too difficult with my constraints?

I think it's totally do-able, as long as you really make a point of sticking to a date-type set and ignore mints and other varieties. Other dates that might be speed-bumps for you are 1799, 1804, 1806, 1821, 1823, and 1872.

If you are doing this as an investment, buy precious metals. If you are doing it because you like collecting coins, then good luck and have fun.

I think this is definitely doable. Try to obtain the highest grade (of keys) possible. You may have to increase the budget a bit. Best wishes on this venture.

If you are doing this as an investment, buy stocks with the help of a professional. Precioius metals are not an iinvestment.

I'm doing this purely for pleasure. I'm not opposed to making money but I plan on leaving my collection to the family when I move on. My business is my real investment.
