Is there an established ranking of the 1982 cents as far as some being more difficult to find than others. I have found the zincs much less often than the coppers. Within the coppers I have found the 1982 large date much more frequently than the small date and found the 1982 D large date least frequently of all. Is that a trend or just my experience so far ?

Out of the 82's that I've noticed the 82 zinc 'D' large date is the most frequent coin that I've found in the 82's. The small date is infrequent. I'm on the west coast. I'm guessing it makes a difference.

Right. Might be a geographical thing. I'm in south Florida.

Another question. Are there any mint figures as to the number of each variety of the 1982s minted?

From the Philadelphia mint there are four variations: copper and zinc, large and small dates. From the Denver mint there are three variations: copper large date and zinc large and small dates. Here are the mintage figures. That's about all that I know.
1982 P 10,712,525,000 0
1982 D 6,012,979,368
1982 S Proof 3,857,479

Answer to both questions:

1. It depends solely upon where you are located. East of the Mississippi will find the 1982P LDC the most, left of the Mississippi will find the 1982D LDC the most. The small date zincs are the least common from both sides of the river.

2. Mintage figures were only kept by mint. There is no mintage figure by variety. Once I get a chance to continue the cent project, that's one of the many purposes of the project. To try to assume mintages for the varieties by counting what's still out there and using some math.
