Looks more like die deteriation/wear. Remember the 1955 "So Called" doubled die? The die wear always flows from edge devices toward the rim. If you note on your coin the direction of die flow is in the same direction as the wear you thought were trails.
Here is a trails coin I found the other day that I need to send in as it is not listed yet.

Richard, I have not seen it posted though I am sure it has been. What exactly is a "trail" coin?

Click on the image and look at the upper right of the EPU. The trails have a raised area which is thought to be created while hubbing with the hub sliding and make marks in a certain direction. On the image above the line flow NE from the top right of the devices.

The trails are on all of the EPU. Nice find, Coop. I don't think BJ has it listed yet.
