These have been around in various forms for decades. It's a good way for dealers to get rid of low grade common date silver / bullion coins in their shops and at shows and turn more profit than they would as junk silver: they sell well for folks looking to buy gifts for someone who collects coins, or whatnot.
I've got a couple of them around somewhere in the "whatever" desk drawers. One of them has a 5 coin set from an
IHC to
Franklin half. Another is a holder with just a "Bicentennial Dollar" (Ike) in a paper insert inside of a plastic case.
Capital Plastics made set holders, too, for things like "U.S. Emergency Coinage" (i.e. silver Jefferson
War Nickels) and "short sets" of
Mercury dimes /
Walking Liberty half dollars, usually 1939-1945 since those were the easiest to still find in BU rolls; the latter being marketed more towards collectors. I've seen some absolutely stunning BU short sets in those holders!
