Received the coin today.I am happy with the coin.I am not looking to give a bad feedback, just trying to reconcile the S&H costs.
It came 1st class, insured, delivery confirmation, in a 00 bubble wrapped mailer.
The USPS charge was $3.79, I paid $9.06 for S&H.
Thanks for feedback

Assuming they buy their bubble wrap mailers in bulk, they don't cost much at all. Allowing for their time I would still consider this postage unreasonable.

Personally I would mark them down on "postage cost reasonable" as regardless of whether or not you knew up front what it was going to be. This is not reasonable when compared to what it cost them.

That $4-5 difference is probably the ebay and PayPal fees added in
Negative feedback is a bit harsh but you can certainly ding him on the shipping DSR...

Yes the DSR, that's what I meant. No to negative or even neutral feedback.

The seller's reply to my question was as follows:
Shipping clearly posted at time of sale. Included is cost of supplies, packaging and currier to post office. Pickup at the store is no charge.
Good feedback is returned with good feedback. Enjoy the nice coin at a great price.
Mark
I still didn't provide feedback. Not sure how to respond..(procrastinating)

Not necessarily. Not all mail carriers are postal employees. There are some around here that I wouldn't trust with a grain of salt. I would drive myself rather than let them take it. Usually the areas they're not postal employees are way out in the sticks too, so it's bigger expense.

I agree that this is a little high. However, it was agreed prior to sale and I think penalizing the seller for it after the fact would be unethical. The buyer had a choice and chose to accept it.

Sellers are not obliged to pass on bulk discounts to buyers. That's their business. In fact most all inventory based accounting practices put purchase discounts directly to profit. For example, I'm a Widget franchise. I buy Widgets from the manufacturer at $10 a piece, but if I buy 100 I get them for $9.50 a piece. Normal accounting practice for this type of business, when buying 100 is to put $1,000 in the inventory account and $50 into a purchase discount account which goes directly to profit at the end of the month.

True Bobby, but I wouldn't exactly call Salem, MA "out in the sticks" when it is basically a suburb of Boston. Now if you referring to rural mail carriers, yes, they do tend to be contract employees for the USPS and not actual postal carriers in blue mail man outfits.

Well I'll tell you this, an 8 or 9 minute drive from center city Dover, we've got these sub-contract drivers that are very scary.

The real scary ones are those that do not use a right-hand drive vehicle! They sit in the passenger seat and drive from there!

how do they manage the pedals--levers and pulleys?
I'm gonna agree w/Quicksilver--the shipping is a tad steep, but as long as you like the coin.
Well, sure nobody has to pass their efficiency on to their customers--but it's one way to stay competitive.
I've never felt the need to pad my S/H because I usually make enough on the coin--while giving the collector an incentive too.

As a buyer you have already executed your part of the contract by making your payment. I wait for the seller to leave feedback before I leave mine.

I was going to respond as a seller, but to honor your wishes I'll let it slide.
