I've got an EF40/45 right now that I'd kind of like to upgrade. Got a lowball in on this one. I'm thinking mid AU, maybe. Dealer I've bought from some nice coins from before with return privileges. Not the best seller pictures in the world, but the coins I've bought came in looking better than his pictures, which can put you at an advantage in a bidding situation. Thoughts?

Low AU for me, sharp coin.
I swing a metal detector and have a knack for finding dirty old coins.

I think it's AU-50 with a shot at 53. Great looking coin.

i like how you stick to you original bid. takes some self control sometimes especially if you like the coin. in this case there are better examples, although it would probably grade straight the original surfaces have been removed imo

If you miss one, so be it, another will come along. I agree with panzaldi, stick to your original bids and don't get caught in the hype of a bidding war.
