VF details ( PMD) cleaned then it appears to have been improperly stored. if you bid on this one, set your top price and don't get caught up in the bidding. treat as a details coin. there are tons of varieties for this year, you might want to determine that also as it could make a difference in price and make it worth consideration

So it's not labeled cleaned but I totally agree that an older cleaning happened. Its tagged "Graffiti" and I'm scratching my head trying to see it

I sure don't see anything that would qualify as graffiti. I'm assuming that these are the only pictures they have.

DangNabIt blast - thx for the eye opener. Pulled cert to see if PCGS had published shots. Yeppers - 3 X's on the Reverse - either side of states and below feet. IMO a pretty weak call on a 230 year old coin. Looks much better on PCGS. I'm tempted but leaning towards waiting for a better candidate. panzaldi - I always set my price and walk away from the computer before it goes live.

according to the slab its graded "Genuine - VF Details (98 - Damage) which is different than graffiti (although that is considered PMD). when they assign a 98 it could be any type of PMD which includes the following

"Any form of metal movement, either intentional or accidental. Damage may include excessive or heavy rim dings and bruises, deliberate surface damage such as graffiti, attempts to remove spots, etc. The severity and extent of the damage affects whether it will get a "No Grade" decision. Whizzing is the use of a high-speed, rotating wheel to buff the surfaces of a coin, which actually moves the metal on the surface and leaves ridges on many of the devices."

the area next to the U in UNITED under the ribbon tail appears to have been altered. Either intention or not it moved metal enough for PCGS to give it a 98. this is area I saw when I called VF (details) PMD

Not me but it did sell yesterday. Panzaldi, it was tagged graffiti.
