I don't remember exactly when I bought this one. It's one of several clipped coins currently in my collection, but one of only 3 triple clips. The total reduction in weight shows that 28% of the planchet was missing prior to the strike.

It's a copper plated zinc coin and displays hundreds of tiny zinc blisters under the outer layer of copper. An interesting anomaly can be seen on the obverse where a line of larger and more frequent zinc blisters runs parallel to the radius of the clip in the field as well as across Lincoln's coat,

Even though the coins overall appearance isn't what I would call attractive, it does make for a nice study piece.

very nice 3-clipper! look like a WAM if that helps to narrow down the date...
that would make it an '82 to 92 - how about a close up of the FG?
