You know it Unfortunately, Buffalo is AU/UNC but toast. 36-D and not a 3.5. Morgan is an O and should restore nicely. Want to try and preserve as much of the leather toning as possible. Acetone should not change the Obverse orange. Here are some scope pics.

Too bad about the Buffalo. Keep us posted on the conservation of the Morgan. I'm interested to see the results!

Very cool! Did this find occur in close proximity to an urban area, or way the heck out there in a Bitterroot watershed?

Way the heck out there 1944 - homestead. Given the condition (lack of wear) on the Buff, and that of the Morgan, I'll assume the drop happened 1936 to 1940.

That $1.05 is like losing $23.36 today.

Quick update: 1) Buffalo came along better than expected. I'm hesitant to claim 3.5 legs but one of the primary markers (rear leg fading into base) appears to be there so now I wonder. Will post separate thread on that. Still cull/details with pitting on Reverse but surprisingly void of most Reverse Verdigris. 2) Morgan - OMG I never wish leather-based build-up/encrustation on my worst enemy. It is so incredibly difficult to remove and, by far, the hardest restoration I've ever tackled. I'm making progress and will provide updated images when feasible.
