I used to have a lovely MS65 Full Head back in the day - long gone now. Spotted this one and wondered about it. Obverse has that carbon spot and appears to have maybe a little rub on the knee, but I can't tell. Seller's pics. Reverse not as nice with a suspiciously shiny area to the right of the eagle. That said, I love the detail of the coin - just a great strike. Obverse luster is striking. Appears to be a no-questions full head to me. Thoughts? Edited by Blastenpene4 05/06/2024 5:32 pm

Quite certainly deserving of Full Head.
I do not like the appearance of this coin because it lacks satiny mint frost and displays signs of being dipped-out like many of this type do. If I were searching, I would be patient for a more original example.
Regardless, I say MS-64 FH.

Agree with 64FH. Not a fan of the surfaces -- would hold out for a better example with better luster. The obverse spot would be a deal breaker for me (personally)

really nicely struck example blast. if I was grading just the obv i'd say MS64FH. I also have a concern about the right rev field. there appears to be some scratches in that area as well and could indicate that someone was attempting to make them less noticeable and it actually ended up removing the original surfaces, there is a possibility it could details for that which would be a shame. tough call

She's a beauty - carbon spot minimal - are you going to get it?

Got it. Will post in-hand pictures when it arrives. Nice looking coin, but zero interest on the auction - got it for $327 delivered. I'm wondering if it's a crackout. That right reverse field looks a bit suspicious - need to see that up close. 30 day return with a dealer I've done business with in the past and gotten some really nice coins from. We shall see.

ya, that right rev field would be my only concern. lighting/photo could be deceptive. I hope this one looks good when she comes in.
