Hello everyone
Is my 1944 copper penny that is a double die and missing the #1 on the date rare ? And does anyone know if it's valuable? I've looked as many places as I could think of and never saw another one like it

to the CCF, Funny Coins! The 1 could be missing due to a Struck Through Grease error. This picture does not allow evaluation of a doubled die.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Funny Coins,

Here are the three reference sites we all use to find a match:http://www.coppercoins.com/advsearch.php
http://www.varietyvista.com/
http://doubleddie.com/
I moved your thread to the proper section of the forum.

Agree with above. Most likely a Greaser.

I'm thinking it's a grease issue.

To CCF! I'm seeing a possible Struck Through Grease issue. Not seeing a Doubled Die.

I actually have come across a 944 Lincoln Cent before. Yes the 1 was Struck Through Grease, and possibly from the same goobed up die as this one. It's kinda neat for a very minor error but not worth much of a premium.
