I was just on my way into a site I like and noticed an ad for this book/catalogue/magazine? My eyes are tired so I am not sure which category it falls into. I am admittedly the worst at trying to find varieties and errors with Lincoln cents. I find I have a strong frustration with my own inability to believe if I have or have not found something worth noting. My mother however is fascinated by even the slightest chance that she will one day find special things and I was thinking she may like this book? I do visit this site often http://www.coppercoins.com/ and go year by year in the search panel and read every word I can and try to make my poor brain memorize it all. Anyway, I am curious as to whether anyone has info on this book? Is it really good? (personally I love detailed pictures to teach me) Has anyone here read this one yet? I'd love to know how good it is and if I should get it. thanks malissa by the way, if you get a chance..... follow the link above to the homepage to see the coolest poster ever!!

I bought a copy at a coin show years ago when it first came out and Chuck was there. He autographed it for me. I highly recommend it. There is alot of great information. Using this book along with his website is the ticket to many enjoyable hours of searching.

Malissadawn, I consider it a must have. I believe that Chuck's book helped me make the corner on understanding errors and varieties. As Pyrbob pointed out, his website and this forum along with the book are more than enough to make you capable in this field. It helps that Chuck is here to answer questions, too.

Was the ad not on coppercoins.com itself? If it wasn't, and they have it in stock, might want to order from them if your Mom's birthday is close. He has ordered suspended until 5/1 on his site.. although come to think of it, that's not too far away. Where the heck did April go?! With the amount of detail he provides with his online attributions, I have no doubt the book would have the same great info, so she'd probably LOVE it! Get her that and a few rolls of cents, and you wouldn't see her for days after.

When they were first finished, Chuck was nice enough to offer some of them here, and I was lucky enough to get one. It's indescribable in person. I don't have the book, but if it's one-tenth as good as his knowledge is here at CCF (and, coming from the same guy, I'd assume it's all that and then some), it's got to be considered the authoritative work on the subject. At the risk of sounding like a coppercoins fanboi, it bears mentioning that he's also a gifted portrait artist.

SuperDave.. I love that portrait! I'm in as much amazement now as I was the first time I saw it on his site... (and I haven't picked up a charcoal pencil since! )

Yeah, thank Goodness I'm not any kind of freehand artist. It'd have pretty much demoralized me. I don't have a copy yet, but that's only because I know I'm moving later this summer. Soon as I'm settled, I'm embarking on acquiring the whole series. I would kill for a "portrait" of the Morgan dollar from him.

well, that kind of closes the deal then doesn't it? I think it would be a good gift for my mom then. The mention of a few rolls of cents is a good idea too. Will have to start browsing the buy/trade area since I obviously will not be finding lincoln cents by the roll here in canada.
thanks for your help and opinions everyone

A definite "must buy". I bought one through coppercoins a couple weeks ago. I believe he hand signs it if purchased through coppercoins. Highly recommended!

There are a few different things going on here, all at once. I have a very diverse plate of work going on, and believe it's necessary to make sure everything is clear. The 'Complete Attribution Guide to Lincoln Cent Die Varieties' is a work in progress, and has been for a long time now. I am working on getting myself situated to get back into productiona nd start sending these out again. That's the work that was in the OP's post. More information about that one here: http://www.coppercoins.com/attribution_guide.phpThe book many here are describing is "Looking Through Lincoln Cents," which I do still carry copies of. It is 300+ pages of information about the Lincoln Cent, and every copy I sell comes signed. http://www.coppercoins.com/book_order.phpThe poster to which some have referred is a 24"x36" regular poster size mosaic of Lincoln Cent images that compose a large Lincoln Cent. It is available here: http://www.coppercoins.com/poster.phpThe art work is something I started three years ago quite by accident. I drew a portrait of Victor D. Brenner, showed it around, and was told by a number of people that they would like to buy a copy of it. That started a series of coin designers which is currently six deep into the series, and I am working on number seven. They are available here: http://www.cdaughtrey.comThrough the years I have been getting better and better at numismatic photography - to the point that now I have a business taking professional digital images of coins. Beause the collection of images I have is so large, I decided to put them to use. I took the mosaic idea from the Lincoln Cent poster and used the images I had taken to produce more mosaic images, this time in an easily framable 11x14 size. I have been working on these for a while now, but just started releasing them to the public. They are available here: http://www.numisphoto.com/products.php

Oh...and by the way, thank you for the attention. It's not that which I seek, I'm actually trying to make a living at art and coins, which is quite rare these days considering I am not really a dealer, and I never set up at shows. Everything I do is immersed in numismatic education and numismatic art. If you like the mosaic prints in the last link, let me know if you have any ideas for more. I have another 10-15 in mind right now that I plan to produce this year, but they do take time to put together.

Chick's book, " looking thru lincoln cents' is in just about every members library, and most are quite worn, from the use! I wouldn't be without one! Dick
