This is the second, and final, $3 gold for grading. Not my coin, so only have these photos. I may bid on it.

Looks like a very faint Omega symbol in the open center part of the R. I think this one is a fake.

Most Common Types of Counterfeits:
Outright counterfeit
Summary:
The most commonly seen 1882 $3 Gold counterfeit is one produced by the so-called "Omega Man." The calling card for his fakes is a tiny Omega symbol. On this particular counterfeit, the symbol is found inside the loop of the "R" in LIBERTY. These were likely created in the 1970s in order to deceive collectors.

Diagnostic Tips:
Heavy tool marks (which often appear as raised "spikes") are often seen around the perimeter of counterfeits.
Look for unusually weak details.
Compare any depressions (marks) against known fakes.
Check for a minuscule omega symbol in the "R" of LIBERTY. This was used as the "call sign" of one counterfeiter.

An omega (Ω) symbol in loop of "R" in LIBERTY identifies this counterfeit

Zoomed in. On the first one, there seems to be something, but cannot confirm. The other two photos I do not see.

@Coinfrog Unfortunately, cannot request better photos. This is a risky bid, but all other bidders are in the same boat. So the reward can be substantial and the miss can be substantial as well. I usually bid based on the worse case grading scenario from the available photos. Of course, if it turns out to be counterfeit, all bets are off.

I would also agree that it's not worth it.

same seller, same look, not one straight on shot. concerning that they are attempting to hide something. I think the surfaces are going to look worse in in hand on this one.

i agree with IGE's assessment. that first R blowup shows the faint symbol. the others don't but it could be angle and/or lighting. I think its counterfeit

And update on this coin and the other similar one here: http://goccf.com/t/466037#4060463

I wanted to bid on this coin, because to me it seemed in the high AU-50s. I would have bid for up to about $2000, but the bidding went over that even before I decided to place a bid. The coin sold for couple of hundreds shy $5000.

I decided instead to buy a GSA holder 1883cc (MS-63?) and a GSA holder 1882cc (MS-60?) for $660 total. I hope the photos (taken at an angle) are making these two coins look worse that what they are in real life...but will soon will be able to look at them in person. Will post a separate thread.
