This is kind of techie but I think most will understand.
The old database (MySql) did not handle large tables very well. So when performance degraded we would archive topics. This moved old topics to a different table. They would still be accessible but they were physically in a different table. The forum search did not search them as that would be very server intensive. They could be found in search engines though.
Fast forward to now, we have moved on to an MSSQL database (a while ago) which is not free, but that's why we didn't use it in the beginning. But the good news is that MSSQL databases couldn't give a rat's petutie how big a table is. It has far superior indexing capabilities and Rui has them very fine-tuned.
So now the forum search will include everything.

Congrats.
I've PMed several enterprise development projects and can tell you that as soon as you say "data", it always takes 5x what you think.
The first 90% takes 90% of your budget, and then the next 9% takes 90% of your budget and the next 0.9% takes ...
My DC manager once said, "Data is like water, it will just be there when you need it". Periodically I call up the hospital and ask them to deliver the message to the locked ward to remind him.

Thanks to Rui who wrote a script for me to unarchive an entire forum at a time. Complete with a rollback added if anything goes wrong in the middle of it.

As a techie myself, I can appreciate what a major undertaking that was. Such projects are like Jenga, even if the code and data have been meticulously maintained. Thanks for all you guys do to make this forum stable and available for future reference. I have personally learned a lot from reading threads that are over a decade old.
