Is it just me or are the others that think this Lincoln Penny Deal is getting out of hand? Just opened an issue of Coin World. The first page I opened to was an advertisement for Lincolns. MS-67 2009 p First day of Issue NGC $799. Ms-67 2009 p First Day of Issue PCGS $895. MS -67 2009 D First Day of Issue PCGS $4,495. I realize the population is low but get real.

When that infomercial on TV runs low on these coins, I'll be glad to gouge them, but I wouldn't sell any of these new coins above what I think they are worth and that ain't a whole lot. On the other hand, I have very few of these Presidential dollars, State and territorial quarters and new Lincolns anyway. I have a good friend or three on CCF and my Father-in-law that sent me samples for free. Those are special to me.

What? Those prices are INSANE! I'd much rather have a nice 14D or SVDB and I guarantee you they will be worth more than a 2009 down the road.

That is totally nuts. Are people actually paying those prices?

I don't know if anyone is buying these coins. But the ad was in the May 4th issue of Coin World for a company called Chattanooga Coin. So here's a question for everyone. You got 2 coins both the same grade. One coin is a first day of issue the other coin is just a regular certified coin. Would you consider one more valuable over the other just because of some label?

Oh one other thing. At the top of there add they claim these coins are 1000 times rarer than a 1909-s VDB.

A whole lot of people do. That's why "First Strike" and "Early Release" labels command a sizable premium in the marketplace. P.S. It doesn't make sense to me either but then again, the people who spend $400,000 for a vintage 1960's Shelby Mustang have a lot more money than I do.

Beyond belief if it was not in writing....I cannot believe anyone would really pay that much though.
