Only about 550 genuine 1856 pattern (circulation strike) Flying Eagle cents survive, worldwide.

Thank you!!! Thank you all for the input on this coin. How can you tell what gives it away that it's fake. I'm new to coin collecting.i want to have an idea what to look for? I read on the web that you could tell by the date, something about the 5 needing to be alittle tilted.idk if it's true.could you point out more things I'm not trying to get rich off this coin, I'm holding on to the coins I find..it's very helpful to get feed back..thank yall

Do eagles have lips? The eagle has a cartoon beak. Sort of like Squidward on Sponge Bob.
Look at a photo on PCGS CoinFacts and compare. The differences in the lettering are also easy to see. You don't have to look any harder than that. It doesn't take a trained eye to see how ridiculous this fake is.

Here's the PCGS link: https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin...g-eagle/2013As noted, look at the eagle's beak. Secondly, the "5" in the date is indeed a good marker. On the genuine example, look at the spacing, tilt, and the "ball" on the bottom of the 5. Also, the obverse denticles are all but missing on parts of your coin.

Also, the lettering style is off on the obverse. These coins have been studies very hard over the years and if you know what to look for, fakes can be spotted rather quickly.

Unfortunately, not even a good fake. Looks like a "DH Gate" special.

Is that verdigris on the left reverse leaves? Did they fake that, or is the coin just deteriorating that fast?
